What does it really mean to be a Christian? At Bethel, our focus is on the three commandments that Jesus taught his disciples.
Love God, Love People, Love Each Other
“You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. Mat 22:37
In order to be a Christian, or what many call "be saved", You must first have a relationship with Christ. Everything that we do at Bethel centers around not only putting God first, but making sure that He is the one guiding everything we do in our lives and church.
"You shall love your neighbor as yourself." Mat 22:39
The second part of being a Christian is to love people, regardless of who they are or where they come from, even when they stand against you. We are all in need of the savior, Jesus Christ, but sometimes people in churches think they have the right to say who can and can't live for God. At Bethel, we will always teach the full truth of the Word of God, but we realize that God is pursuing all people, and our function is to love people, regardless of their past, because we all need Christ for a future.
"A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another." John 13:34
Some of the most difficult circumstances in a Christians life come from contention in the church. Sometimes we forget to love one another, how Jesus loved, and that means we are the same as close family. At Bethel, you will find more than a group of people who just attend church services. You will find a family of people that love one another, build one another up, and even when we have struggles, we work together for real reconciliation and restoration. Jesus went on to say that the world would know that we are one of his by our love for one another. So, we strive to love one another, just like He loves us.
